LT is dating a new girl at school named Leah Winters. Claire is concerned that Leah's grades (as a recent transfer student) are down. Using sex as a bargaining chip, Leah asks LT if he can get something (drugs) to help her relax. LT is reluctant, but anxious to please, agrees to look into it. Leah gets into a fight with some girls (who are into the drug scene at school) who become suspicious of her agenda. When Claire hears about it, she urges Peters to intervene. Peters tells Claire that Leah is an undercover police officer investigating drug use at the high school. Claire struggles with keeping this secret, knowing LT's in a vulnerable position, especially after his father's death. Peters tells Claire to stay out of it, that saying anything to LT could jeopardize Leah's safety. Leah starts getting pressure from her detective/supervisor to make some busts. But when LT fails to come through for her, Leah distances herself. Suspicious about Leah's sudden lack of interest, LT follows her and sees her meeting with her supervisor, the glint of his badge shining from his belt. LT puts a dead rat in Leah's locker and word gets out that Leah is a narc. Peters suspects Claire is the one who told LT, and LT doesn't contradict that mistaken notion. Claire tries to convince Peters that she didn't tell LT, but based on her previous attitude, Peters doesn't believe her. Eventually, Peters, under pressure from the superintendent, suspends Claire without pay until LT comes forward. Claire apologizes to LT, trying to explain the awkward position she was in. Feeling betrayed, LT remains unsympathetic, unwilling to intercede to save her job. Claire tries to explain the situation to Shamaya, but Shamaya sides with her brother. Eventually, Claire is reinstated due to lack of evidence, restoring a tentative peace between her and LT.

Dinah goes on a study-date with a boy from school named Michael. Russell and Claire are troubled by their first impressions of this taciturn youth, sporting a nose ring and tattoo. When Dinah returns home an hour past the agreed-upon time, Russell forbids Dinah from seeing him. They are doubly concerned when they see that Dinah has gotten a tattoo on her wrist. Dinah accuses her parents of holding her and Josh to double standards. Dinah talks to Bobbie about her situation. Bobbie advises Dinah to make peace with her parents before she does something she regrets. Margot pays a visit to Dinah's parents to urge them to try to understand where Dinah's coming from, that she just wants their trust. Russell takes Margot's advice to meet Dinah halfway, by suggesting a party to which she can invite Michael and her friends. At the party, Russell and Claire learn of Michael's talent as a baker and are more open-minded about the possibility of Dinah seeing Michael again..
